THE HOSPITAL'S SPIRIT ( 1 of 3 )

Doctor Antonio Maria Pineda was without doubt the most notorious advocate of the construction of the new building, being able to obtain resources from the community and the State, until giving life to a design credited to the German engineer Jusot Rosenberg and executed by the architect Jose de la Paz Morales

Inauguration of Hospital La Caridad, 1918 Pineda returned from Paris around 1880, after obtaining there the Ph.D. in Medicine, and once settled in our city took charge of the Hospital La Caridad, for more than fifty years. Because of his humanitarian nature, and his scientific enterprising spirit he chairs with enthusiasm the cooperation board until he sees in that lot skidded by the sun a building built in parts, which are put in service in the order they are concluded. The 2nd of July of 1911 the first wards are opened, with the old hospital still working. This one would be definitely demolished in 1916, to give way to the east wing of the new building.
